Why clean your carpets?
Carpets usually experience a great deal of use, its why we recommend
taking care of your investment with regular professional carpet
cleaning, which will keep your carpet looking new for longer and get
rid of all those nasty bacteria and bugs which can cause bad odours
and breathing problems.

Carpet cleaning will also remove any unsightly spots/stains you may
have in your carpet.
Not regularly having your property carpet cleaned, will leave harmful
mites and bacteria to breed unchecked. The carpet cleaning costs are
low (and makes financial sense) when you consider the replacement cost
of carpets and furnishing, so annual carpet cleaning makes sense. Soil
and grit will, when repeatedly trodden into your carpet, damage the
carpet fibers and will reduce its life.
Chemicals, pollens, bacteria, dust, dirt, mould, dust mites <more>,
smoke, grease, food/drink stains & pet stains <more> can all be
removed.
How often should you clean your carpets?
Good quality carpets are a major investment and it pays you to look
after them… but just how often they should be cleaned depends on your
household. Every household is unique! The number of adults, children
and pets in the home is a major consideration, as the more feet, the
more soil!
Carpet Cleaning Methods:
Dry cleaning
There are many methods of carpet cleaning... Carpet cleaners may use a
dry cleaning system where they spread a low moisture cleaning solution
or granules on your carpet and then vacuum them up. The benefits of this
are that there is no real downtime of your carpets as they don't get wet
and people can walk on them straight away. How ever the actual cleaning
ability of this method is minimal when compared to other methods of
carpet cleaning.
Rotary Cleaning Systems
The carpet cleaner will 'work' in a cleaning (liquid) solution into the
carpet with a rotary machine with a soft carpet brush...again this a low
moisture cleaning method so downtime is reduced. The carpet cleaner
would then absorb the cleaning solution and what ever foam the
shampoo/detergent has produced, using a bonnet mop (giant flannel) on
the bottom of a rotary scrubbing machine. This leaves the carpet almost
dry and is usually cheaper than some other methods. This method can be
effective but if you imagine washing your hair with shampoo and then
towel drying the shampoo out, this isn't a very appealing prospect as
the shampoo residues will remain stuck to your hair and continue to
attract dirt and grime. So always ask your carpet cleaner if he is sure
this is the appropriate method to choose.
Hot water extraction cleaning
(often inaccurately referred to as steam cleaning) This is by far and
away the best method of carpet cleaning there is. No question! The
carpet cleaner will apply a pre spray to the carpet, this is the
cleaning solution, and the cleaner should let the pre spray dwell on the
carpet for up to 10 minutes, maybe working it into the carpet with a
special rake. Then the professional carpet cleaner would then hot water
extract the cleaning solution from the carpet. It does this by spraying
at high-pressure rinse water onto the carpet at high pressure and then
sucking it back up. This method completely rinses out the detergents or
other cleaning solution used and leaves the carpet dry in a few hours.
Most problems with carpet cleaning come from over wetting of the carpet,
or from not rinsing out/removing the cleaning solution properly. If the
solution is not properly removed from the carpet then the residues will
continue to attract dirt and soil and the carpet will rapidly deteriate
and look worse than before they were cleaned. It is important to make
sure your carpet cleaner has a powerful extraction machine, this is the
important part as carpets that are left too wet will go mouldy and
shrink and there could be browning from the carpets backing.
